Cyril Rochford McLaglen (born September 9, 1899 in London , † July 11, 1987 in Perris , California , United States ) was a British-American film actor .

Live and act

The second youngest son of the Reverend Bishop Andrew CA McLaglen and Lillian McLaglen belonged to a well-known family of film actors; his brothers included Victor McLaglen and Clifford McLaglen . After his military service in World War I, the eldest brother brought Victor Cyril into acting. At Victor's side, Cyril made his debut in 1920 in the boxer drama The Call of the Road . Although very present in the wake of Victor, who soon rose to modest fame, between the mid-1920s and the early 1940s, first in the British and then, since he moved to the USA in 1934, also in Hollywood, Cyril McLaglen almost never got beyond batch roles.

The British were repeatedly seen as an officer, but occasionally also as a policeman, drunk or as a guillotine operator. John Ford , the decisive sponsor of Victor in America, also gave his much less well-known brother Cyril the opportunity for one or the other miniature appearance in his films ( Mary of Scotland , The Plow and the Stars, Recruit Willie Winkie , Vier Mann - ein Schwur und Der long way to Cardiff ). In 1942, Cyril McLaglen took up arms again, but after his return to the States, he could hardly find a place in the film. After 1951 his track is lost.
