The Czartoryski Chapel is one of the 19 chapels that surround the Kraków Cathedral . It is under the patronage of the Passion of Christ . It is located on the first floor of the clock tower . The royal crypts of the cathedral can be entered from the Czartoryski Chapel .
history
The Gothic chapel was built in 1364. From 1420 to 1603 it served as a chapter house. It was later connected to the Rogowski Chapel . Between 1873 and 1884 it was rebuilt as a burial chapel by Teofil Żebrawski for Prince Władysław Czartoryski . At that time, the Gothic altar was composed of figures from other Gothic altars, including the Jan Obracht triptych from the Jan Olbracht Chapel by Stanislaus Stoss . The epitaph for the Czartoryski goes back to Antoni Madeyski . The last renovation at the beginning of the 20th century was carried out by Zygmunt Hendel in 1906 . The Art Nouveau frescoes from 1909 go back to Karol Maszkowski .
