Czesław Józef Marek (born September 16, 1891 in Przemyśl , Poland , † June 17, 1985 in Zurich ) was a Polish composer , pianist , piano teacher and writer.

Life

Marek was born in Przemyśl, Poland in 1891. During his music studies he was a student of Hermann Graedener , Theodor Leschetizky and Karl Weigl in Vienna and of Hans Pfitzner in Strasbourg . From 1916 to 1919 he taught at the Berrs Conservatory in Zurich . From 1929 to 1930 he headed the Conservatory in Poznan , after which he lived again in Switzerland. He died in Zurich in 1985.

Marek composed a symphony (3rd prize at the International Schubert Competition 1928 ) and a Sinfonietta, an orchestral suite, capriccio and meditations for orchestra, chamber music works, choral music and songs .

In 1972, Atlantis-Musikbuchverlag published his teaching of piano playing , in which all aspects of piano playing are precisely presented based on his experience and knowledge as a pianist and his long work in music education.
