The Danish Church Eckernförde ( Danish Den danske kirke i Egernførde ) is a church building of the Evangelical-Lutheran Danish Church in South Schleswig ( Danish Dansk Kirke i Sydslesvig ) in the city of Eckernförde .

Building

The church with 60 seats was built by architect Søren Kjærsgaard from Faaborg and consecrated in 1985. It is located in the Borby district of Eckernförde . The organ was from which Greenland originating organ builder Anders Rasmussen Havgaard from Bramming 1988 with eight voices built.

The altar is made of Bornholm granite. The baptismal font is modeled on a shell. On the pulpit there is a relief with a cross, an anchor and a heart, which is supposed to symbolize faith, hope and love . The building includes the church as well as the parish rooms and pastorate.

local community

The community was founded on June 16, 1946. In the early years, services were usually held in Borby Church. After the regional church stopped Danish services in its premises in 1955, the services were held in the Jes-Kruse-Skole. The congregation has had its own church building only since 1985.

The parish is part of the Danish Church in South Schleswig. This is an association of several Danish Evangelical Lutheran congregations in southern Schleswig and does the church work for the Danish southern Schleswig . Organizationally, the communities in southern Schleswig are subordinate to the Haderslev diocese .

The church in Eckernförde is also the center of the Danish pastorate Eckernförde. This covers a relatively large area in the southeast of southern Schleswig and extends from the south of the Schlei to the Kiel Canal . It includes both the municipality in Eckernförde and a smaller municipality in Kiel-Holtenau ( Danish Holtenå ). Danish neighboring communities are located in Rendsburg, Schleswig, Süderbrarup and Kappeln.
