Däur Äskerbekuly Abajew ( Kazakh Дәурен Әскербекұлы Абаев , Russian Даурен Аскербекович Абаев Dauren Askerbekowitsch Abajew ; born April 18, 1979 ) is a Kazakh politician .

Life

Doren Abayev was born in Alma-Ata Oblast in 1979. He graduated from Al-Farabi University in Almaty in 2001 . Another degree was added in 2014 at the Eurasian Institute for Humanities.

He began his professional career in August 2001 in the Kazakh Foreign Ministry . There he held various positions. In 2003 he switched to the diplomatic service and became third secretary at the Kazakh embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan . He was then second secretary and chargé d' affaires at the embassy in the Netherlands . In May 2007 he returned to the Foreign Ministry where he became head of the press office. He held this post until December of the same year.

From December 2007 Abayev worked in the presidential administration and from December 2008 to October 2009 he was deputy press spokesman for the Kazakh President before he was given another post in the administration of the President. In October 2011 he became press spokesman and from July 2013 he was also an advisor to the president. He held both positions until May 2016.

On May 6, 2016, Abayev was appointed Minister for Information and Communication in the cabinet of Kärim Mässimow . The ministry was established in response to popular protests against land reform in Kazakhstan. He also retained this ministerial post in the Saghyntayev cabinet . After a change of government in February 2019 and the abolition of the ministry, he became Minister for Information and Social Development in the Mamin cabinet on February 25 .
