Brigitte Fokuhl

Brigitte Fokuhl , née Peters (born June 21, 1940 in Lübeck ), is a German author who mainly publishes in Low German .

Life

Fokuhl grew up in her hometown Lübeck, where she still lives today. After finishing school, she worked as a clerk in the Hanseatic city . She only began writing poems and short stories in Low German only at the age of 50. Since 1999, glosses by her have appeared regularly in the Lübecker Nachrichten . Several of her stories have been published in books by the Quickborn and Wachholtz publishers. She organizes readings by authors all over Schleswig-Holstein , where she sings Low German songs with the audience if requested and accompanies them herself on the accordion . She is also a co-designer of Low German church devotions in the Lübeck area .

Brigitte Fokuhl is married and has two children.

Awards

Fokuhl took part several times in the Low German Vertell writing competition held annually by NDR , Radio Bremen and the Hamburg Ohnsorg Theater .
