A Düüreg ( Mongolian дүүрэг , plural : Düürgüüd ) is a capital district in Ulaanbaatar , the capital of Mongolia . Today there are nine Düürgüüd, each of which is divided into choroos (khoroo, хороо).

history

After the introduction of the modern constitution in 1992, the four large urban rayons were given up and initially 12 Düürgüüd were given in the capital, but three of them were given up again in 1995 ( Gachuurt , Jargalant , Tuul ). The Düüreg are named after distinctive features.

organization

The Düürgüüd are comparable in ranking to the Sum (сум) of the provinces ( Aimag ). You are responsible for collecting taxes and maintaining the infrastructure and services. Each Düüreg also serves as an electoral district and elects one to four MPs in the Great State of Chural . The Düüreg Governor is also elected for four years . The Düüregs are divided into one to 32 Choroos (2013 a total of 151).
