Thin film diode

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A thin-film diode ( English thin-film diode , short TFD ) is a diode , the means of thin film technology is prepared.

application

Thin-film diodes are mainly used in liquid crystal screens , especially in matrix LCDs . This design is also known as a TFD display and is mostly used in mobile devices such as cell phones as an alternative to TFT displays .

The advantages of two-pole thin-film diodes over three-pole thin - film transistors are primarily the lower power consumption and the lower manufacturing costs due to the simpler structure. The disadvantages are a narrower color gamut , which can be counteracted by using a “dual select” diode arrangement that uses two diodes per pixel circuit instead of one .
