Egyptian Fatwa Office

The Egyptian Fatwa Office ( Arabic دار الإفتاء المصرية Dar al-Ifta al-Misriya , DMG Dār al-Iftāʾ al-Miṣrīya ) is a center for Islamic legal issues ( fatwa ) in Egypt . It was founded in 1895 due to a decree of the last Khedive Abbas Hilmi Pascha . The panel of legal experts ischairedby the Grand Mufti of Egypt . Along with al-Azhar University , it is the most important Islamic institution in Egypt. The Egyptian Grand Mufti Schawki Ibrahim Allam has been in officeas the successor to Ali Gomaa since 2013.
