KK Dōga Kōbō ( Japanese 株式会社 動画 工房 Kabushiki-gaisha Dōga Kōbō , English Doga Kobo inc. ) Is a Japanese animation studio.

history

Dōga Kōbō, literally “film workshop; -atelier “, was founded on July 11, 1973 by Hideo Furusawa, who had previously been employed by Tōei Dōga (today: Toei Animation). On July 11, 2006, the company changed its legal form from a yūgen-gaisha (GmbH) to a kabushiki-gaisha (stock corporation).

Despite its long history, the company didn't begin producing anime as a lead studio until the mid-2000s , with the exception of the 1988 original video animation Uchū Kazoku Carlvinson . In 2005, the first in-house production was the feature film Kahey no Umi . In 2006 the second production OVA Memories Off # 5: Togireta Film: The Animation followed and in 2007 with Myself; Yourself the first television series. Since then it has regularly produced other television series, mainly Ren'ai computer game adaptations until 2011 and since then adaptations of comedic mangas with a special focus on works of the Slice of Life genre . In 2015, Plastic Memories, the first self-produced television series, followed.

At the Animation Kobe Awards 2012, Yuru Yuri was named Best TV Series by Dōga Kōbō.
