YuruYuri ( Japanese ゆ る ゆ り , dt. "Mild Yuri ") is a manga series by the illustrator Namori . She reports on the everyday life of four schoolgirls who take over the tea ceremony club room in order to design it as their own “pleasure club” ( Goraku-bu ).

action

The plot focuses on the members of the club and their various personalities and relationships with one another. The supposed main character Akari Akaza ( 赤 座 あ か り ) shines by being permanently overlooked or forgotten, while the blond-haired, always optimistic, but also headstrong Kyōko Toshinō ( 歳 納 京 子 ) is the main cause of the elements that drive the action. Her opposite pole is the calm and level-headed Yui Funami ( 船 見 結 衣 ), who also repeatedly slips into the role of the narrator. Chinatsu Yoshikawa ( 吉川 ち な つ ), who is obviously in love with Yui, but cannot bear that Kyōko and Yui have a very deep friendship, causes tension again and again . Nevertheless, they are close friends and enjoy their stays in the club room, whereby the constellations with each other repeatedly create comical scenes.

Later a second group of schoolgirls joins them more or less. For example, head girl Ayano Sugiura ( 杉 浦 綾 乃 ) involuntarily gets involved in club activities, but later shows a strong affection for Kyōko, although she would never admit it as Tsundere . She is often with Chitose Ikeda ( 池田 千 歳 ), who succumbs to her sexual fantasies as soon as Chitose takes off her glasses. Ayano competes with other candidates for their posts. One is the well-behaved, level-headed, lusciously built Himawari Furutani ( 古谷 向日葵 ), the second is the Pettanko Sakurako Ōmuro ( 大 室 櫻子 ). Although they can be described as friends, because of their contradictions and as opponents for the head boy position, they are repeatedly at odds.

Conception

A central element of the work is the actual or only hinted at homosexuality of the students, which is also alluded to in the title by the word Yuri (= lesbian). At the same time, however, many childlike elements are used to underline the naivety of the characters. So was z. B. built in the television series Majokko Mirakurun , which has done Kyōko and Mari, but at the same time means that Chinatsu can be seen again and again in the cosplay of Mirakurun, the protagonist of the series, because of their optical similarity .

publication

The publication of the manga began on June 18, 2008 within the manga magazine Comic Yuri Hime S , which was edited by Ichijinsha . Since September 2010, the series switched to the magazine Comic Yuri Hime , since Comic Yuri Hime S was discontinued. So far, the chapters have also appeared in 16 edited volumes.
