D4L (Down for Life) is a four-piece hip-hop band from the USA . Rapper Shawty Lo formed the group in 2003 in Atlanta , Georgia with Fa-bo, Mook-B and Stoney.
Career
After the band had received a record deal on the Ice Age Entertainment label founded by Mike Jones in 2005, their debut single Laffy Taffy was released in the fall of the same year . It reached number 1 on the US pop charts in January 2006 . The song is a relaxed rap song full of sexual innuendos.
The first album, Down for Life , released on November 8, 2005 , after the long form of their band name, was awarded gold in the USA .
