Day6 ( kor .: 데이 식스, also DAY6 ) is a South Korean band founded by JYP Entertainment . Their debut album The Day was released on September 7th, 2015. After Junhyeok, singer and keyboardist, left the band in early 2016, it now consists of five members: Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon.

Band founded, debut album The Day (2015) and new beginning with Daydream (2016)

Initially, JYP Entertainment announced the group as a five-piece band called 5Live. This consisted of Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Junhyeok and Wonpil. The band appeared in an episode of the Mnet show Who is Next: WIN in 2014 and released the song Lovely Girl for the soundtrack to Pretty Man . In mid-2015, drummer Dowoon joined the group and the name was changed to Day6.

On September 7, 2015, the band's first official mini-album, The Day, was released .

JYP Entertainment announced on February 27, 2016 that Junhyeok had left the band and the record label due to personal reasons.

The remaining five members released their second mini-album Daydream on March 30, 2016 .

Project Every Day6 (2017)

As part of the Every Day6 project, Day6 released a single online on the 6th of each month of 2017 , or an album in both June and December 2017 with the singles released to date as well as final versions of some songs from the first two mini Albums. The project was accompanied by monthly " Every Day6 " concerts and ended on March 3rd and 4th. March 2018 with two concerts " Every Day6 Finale Concert - The Best Moments ". Through this project, the band's fan base grew significantly.

First world tour "Youth" and debut in Japan with Unlock (2018)

From June 22nd, 2018 to January 29th, 2019 the band went on their first world tour " Day6 1st World Tour: Youth ", which began in South Korea. Concerts in Australia, Southeast Asia, North and South America and Europe followed. The world tour ended with two additional concerts on March 30 and 31, 2019 in Seoul.

During the world tour, Day6 released two more mini-albums. Shoot Me: Youth Part 1 was released on June 26, 2018 and Remember Us: Youth Part 2 on December 10, 2018.

The Book of Us: Gravity and Entropy (2019) and The Best Day2 (2019)

On July 15, 2019, the band released their fifth mini-album The Book of Us: Gravity with the title track Time of Our Life (한 페이지 가 될 수 있게) and five other songs. With Time of Our Life Day6 won first place in the music shows "Showchampion" (July 24, 2019) and "M Countdown" (Ep. 629). They also won the award for best band at the M2 X Genie Music Awards (MGMA).

On July 1, 2019, it was announced that the band's second world tour, entitled Gravity , will begin on August 9 in Seoul and will continue with concerts in North America, Southeast Asia and Australia and Europe until January 2020.

On September 28, 2019, posters with the words "2019.10.22 6pm" and the logo of Day6 appeared in several subway stations in Seoul, indicating an imminent comeback. On October 6, 2019, the trailer film for the new album called " The Book of Us: Entropy " was released, which confirmed the comeback. With the release of the track list it became clear that “ The Book of Us: Entropy ” would be Day6's third album with 11 new original compositions, including the title track “ Sweet Chaos ”. The album, single and associated music video were released on October 22, 2019.

On October 8, 2019, it was also announced that the second Japanese-language album entitled " The Best Day2 " would be released on December 4, 2019 . This consists of Japanese versions of previously published Korean titles and two new compositions. The title track " Finale " was released on October 22, 2019 on various streaming platforms.

Miscellaneous

The members of Day6, especially bassist Young K, who is considered the main lyricist, write and compose the majority of their songs themselves.

All members played a musical instrument before the band was founded, but Sungjin and Young K had to switch to guitar and bass and learn these instruments again.

The official name of Day6 fans is MyDay .
