The single-axle trailers of the VB 141 series were developed for the transport of bicycles, luggage and in some cases for ski transport.
history
Based on the single-axle ski trailer used by the Swiss Federal Railways for the Red Arrows , the Reichsbahn had a similar model developed at Waggonfabrik Fuchs , which was intended for use behind the ET 91 and VT 90 500 and 501 observation railcars . However, the design was not implemented.
At the end of 1951, the Federal Railroad initially commissioned ten single-axle trailers from Waggon- und Maschinenbau GmbH Donauwörth , three of which (VB 141 120-122) were again intended for the observation railcars and were used as ski and luggage trailers. The other seven vehicles received bicycle racks and were intended for the new railcars of the VT 95 series .
technology
The car body had a width of 2500 mm and an overall height of 1867 mm. For loading and unloading, there were two wide and one narrow flaps above the axle on each side. The three carriages VB 141 120–122 received a special coupling for the observation railcars, the others the standard Scharfenberg coupling of the VT 95 and the pre-production VT 98 . For parking there were supports on both ends.
commitment
The ten single-axle trailers delivered in 1952 initially proved themselves in operation, so that a follow-up order for a further 50 units was placed with Waggonfabrik Fuchs, which were delivered in 1955 and distributed to almost all VT 95 Bws . Already in 1961, however, almost all vehicles were taken out of service, only two cars remained in use together with the pre-production VT 98 in Passau until the end of 1968.
