In badminton, the GDR league was the second or third highest division of the league system for determining the team champion of the sport called badminton in the GDR .

historical development

In 1960 the first GDR team championship took place, but not yet in the form of a league, but as a final round with participants determined in regional preliminary rounds. The first master became an activist Tröbitz on April 18, 1960 . The first league season started the next year . The second highest league was from the 1961/1962 season to the district league , which lasted until the end of badminton game operations in the GDR. The district league gave its rank as the second highest league with 15 parallel seasons in the 1967/1968 season to the GDR league, which from then on followed the league as the second level with four regional seasons north, east, west and south. However, this only lasted until the 1970/1971 season, when a single-track second division was created with the Oberliga B. Both GDR League and Oberliga B lasted until the end of the GDR.
