The DJK Agon 08 Dusseldorf eV / MSV is a football / sports club from the Düsseldorf district Mörsenbroich . The abbreviation DJK stands for Deutsche Jugendkraft, see DJK-Sportverband . The term agon comes from ancient Greece and means "fight", "competition" or "competition".

basketball

The women's basketball division has won twelve German championships (1975, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991) and seven DBB trophies won (1980, 1981, 1983, 1984 , 1985, 1986, 1988) and two second places in the European Champion Clubs' Cup (1983, 1986) among the most successful clubs in Germany. The team coached by Tony DiLeo in its most successful period remained unbeaten in national competitions (championship and cup) 136 games in a row, which is why it was included in the German-language edition of the Guinness Book of Records .

Soccer

The football department is the club's second flagship. The first team managed in the seasons 2004/05 to 2010/11 promotion from the district league C to the district league. After the 14th place in the table in the 2014/15 season, the first team rose again from the district league and has been in the district league A Düsseldorf since the 2015/16 season. The best placement in recent years was a 7th place in the district league 2012/13. The second team plays in the district league C. The youth division takes part in the championship, from the Bambini to the B youth.

The club also gained national attention through its annual football school for children from 4 to 11 years of age during the summer holidays. Under the motto “Sport instead of the street”, the children are trained and looked after by volunteer trainers for a week free of charge. The project “Sport instead of street” has already received various awards as a particularly integrative project. In 2015 the soccer school celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Others

In addition to the basketball and soccer department, the club has eight other departments. The DJK Agon 08 also offers tennis, table tennis, gymnastics, athletics, handball, volleyball, badminton and boules.

The sports facility on Sankt-Franziskus-Strasse has a club house, an ash court, an artificial turf pitch and a running track.
