DJ Casper (born June 23, 1971 in Brooklyn , New York; real name William Perry ), also Mr. C The Slide Man, is an American DJ from Chicago . He is best known for his 2004 number one hit Cha Cha Slide .

Career

DJ Casper wrote the Cha Cha Slide in 1996 for Balley Total Fitness, an American fitness club. The Cha Cha Slide is a line dance with a set sequence of steps. DJ Casper wrote the song and developed the dance for it. Most often this dance is danced in dance clubs, parties, bar mitzvahs, and weddings in Canada, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Cha Cha Slide is an update version of the Electric Slide .

The song became a hit with the club, prompting Casper to release it on his CD Cha-Cha Slide: The Original Slide Album on September 19, 1996. Later he wrote a second version which became known as Cha Cha Slide (Part 2) .

In 2001 he released the single in the US under the name Mr. C The Slide Man and was able to land a chart hit. The album of the same name was even more successful and consisted of just seven tracks, four of which were slide versions. It stayed on the charts for 19 weeks.

In 2003, McDonald’s used the song for a TV commercial, whereupon Perry, under the name of DJ Casper, reached number 1 in the UK singles chart with the Cha Cha Slide in spring 2004 . He then made a remix of the Gap Band's hit Oops Upside Your Head , which also hit the UK charts.
