DR series Ks
The small locomotives of the Ks series (later called Ka ) are small, battery- powered locomotives driven by electric motors for light shunting and shunting services. The letter "s" or "a" in the series designation stands for "storage drive" or "battery drive". After testing some experimental locomotives, they were put into service with the Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1935 .
Series Ks
The following 46 machines were built in the 1930s:
Construction year | Ks | Manufacturer | number |
---|---|---|---|
1930 | 4012-4015 | AEG | 4th |
1932 | 4071 | AEG | 1 |
1935 | 4815-4820 | BMAG | 6th |
1936 1937 1938 |
4859-4870 4903-4910 4979-4993 |
Windhoff | 35 |
The 35 series machines built by Windhoff are externally very similar to the diesel-powered sister machines of the Kö / Köf II series .
The locomotives of the Ks series were assigned to performance group II. The Deutsche Bundesbahn changed the machines to the Ka series from 1950 . From 1968, the 22 remaining machines were given the EDP series designation of the 381 series , including the pre-series specials 381 101 (previously Ka 4015) and 381 201 (previously Ka 4071) as well as three BMAG machines (381 001 to 003).
Whereabouts
The Ka 4013 (Bochum-Dahlhausen Railway Museum) and Ka 4015 (Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum eV, Nördlingen) as well as the Ka 4071 as a memorial on the station forecourt of Limburg were preserved for posterity from the pre-production series. The series machine 381 018 is still in use in the DB vehicle maintenance plant in Dessau as a device in the internal shunting. 381 020 (Mainz) is also still available as a device. 381 005 was also in use as a device in Cologne-Deutzerfeld long after it was retired, but is now part of the inventory of the DB Museum Koblenz.
DB replicas
In 1955 Gmeinder built two more machines for the Deutsche Bundesbahn with the numbers Ks 4992 and 4993, from 1960 Ka 4992 and 4993 (the prewar designs Ks 4992 and 4993 from Windhoff had already been taken out of service as a war loss); from 1968 onwards they were listed as 382 001 and 382 101 in the DB's IT series scheme. They were based for the greater part of their working time in the Hamburg-Ohlsdorf S-Bahn depot. 382 101 was scrapped in 1984, 382 001 is still in use in Ohlsdorf, owned by S-Bahn Hamburg GmbH .
