A DSV sailing instructor license is therefore a voluntary proof of the ability to train sailing students. The license should give the sailing student proof that the instructor has a level of knowledge that has been checked by the DSV.

Holders of a DSV sailing instructor license may call themselves DSV sailing instructors .
