Leptocereus sylvestris is a species of plant in the genus Leptocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet sylvestris comes from Latin and means 'growing in the forest'.

Leptocereus sylvestris grows tree-shaped and reaches heights of up to 5 meters. The uppermost drive segments reach a diameter of up to 3 centimeters. There are five to seven strongly notched ribs . The persistent light brown thorns are up to 7 inches long.

The tubular white flowers are up to 7 inches long. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are conspicuously tuberous and covered with a few areoles that carry thorns. The spherical fruits are covered with a few areoles with short thorns.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Leptocereus sylvestris is common in eastern Cuba .

The first description was in 1920 by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Near Threatened (NT)", d. H. listed as low risk.
