Dağ Pazarı

Dağ Pazarı (or Dağpazarı , formerly Kestel) is a place in Cilicia in today's Turkey and is located 33 km northeast of Mut and 48 km southeast of Karaman at an altitude of about 1400 m.

The place is on the site of an ancient city whose name was probably Koropissos . In the Tabula Peutingeriana he is recorded as Coriopio on the road between Iconium and Seleukia on the Kalykadnos . Their status as a polis is evident from an inscription from the time of Pertinax . In late antiquity the place was the seat of a diocese .

The place is protected on three sides by the sloping slopes towards the Kavak Gözü river, the north side is protected by a city wall. Remains of columned streets, houses and cisterns can be seen within the urban area. Three church buildings have been preserved: In front of the city there is an extra muros grave church , in the city a poorly preserved three-aisled basilica with a baptistery , perhaps the bishop's church, and a still high upright domed church with a gallery. An aqueduct brought water into the city from the south . In the north lie the remains of a hippodrome in the flat terrain .
