Dabragezas
Dabragezas ( ancient Greek Δαβραγέζας ) was a military leader of the Byzantine Empire in 554 and 555.
In the war against the Persians for influence in Lasika in 554 he led a troop of 600 riders together with Usigardos to protect the siege troops who wanted to take the Persian fortress Onoguris near the Lasik capital Archaiopolis, today's Nokalakevi in Georgia . When they arrived, the surprised Persians panicked and fled. In the histories of Agathias , Dabragezas was referred to as a taxiarch of ancient origin for the year 555 . At the upper Phasis he managed to capture two ships of the Persians.
Further information about his person is not known, and the etymology of his name is unknown. It is possible, but not certain, that "Leontios, son of Dabragezas" mentioned for the year 556 is actually the son of this name-bearer.
