The umbrella association of Archaeological Student Representatives (DASV) bundles the interests of students in archaeological subjects in German-speaking countries. It is a voluntary association of the respective student representatives ( student councils and initiatives , independent student bodies , Austrian student representatives ) in archaeological subjects. The disciplines represented are Egyptology , Classical Studies, Christian Archeology , Classical Archeology , Provincial Roman Archeology , Prehistory and Early History as well as other subjects of the department.

aims

The association sees itself as a mouthpiece for students of archaeological subjects in German-speaking countries. Its tasks include the creation, maintenance and promotion of student self-governing bodies in the field of archaeological subjects as well as the networking and coordination of student representatives in the archaeological disciplines within and above all between the individual universities.

In addition, the DASV participates in the clarification of subject-related and study-related questions, promotes information and discussion on university policy and advocates the preservation of the diversity of archaeological institutes and seminars at the universities in the association area.

Another focus of the work is the cooperation with specialist organizations in the field of ancient studies. In 2008, a cooperation agreement was signed with the German Society for Prehistory and Early History (DGUF), the Society for Natural Archeology and Archaeometry (GNAA) and the West and South German Association for Antiquity Research (WSVA). In 2011 another cooperation was signed with the Austrian Archaeological Student Association (ASVÖ). In addition, DASV eV works with the German Association of Archaeologists (DArV), with which there has been a cooperation since June 2012. Since 2011 he has also been a member of the German Association for Archeology and is always keen to work with other professional associations.

Foundation, members

The association was founded on May 15, 2005 and is a registered association , but fulfills the function of an umbrella association . As of May / 2013, 55 student representatives are full members of DASV eV In addition, extraordinary and honorary membership can be awarded to persons. Institutions and people who support the work of the association through logistical or financial means can apply for sponsoring membership.

structure

The umbrella organization is divided into six regional or state associations :

  • Regional Association North (Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia)
  • Regional Association East (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Berlin, Brandenburg, Thuringia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt)
  • Regional Association West (Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland)
  • Regional Association South (Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg)
  • National Association of Switzerland and
  • Regional Association Austria .

Each of the six regional or state associations is headed by regional representatives or state representatives who advocate the interests of the association in a smaller geographical context. These representatives form the link between the board, the regional or state associations and the advisory board of DASV eV Analogous to the number of regional and state associations, the board of DASV eV has a minimum of three and a maximum of six members according to the statutes. The board regulates the association's business and represents the association externally.

General meeting, international student council conference

The association supports the archaeological student representatives in organizing the International Student Council (IFaTa), which takes place once a semester and which also includes the general assembly and various working groups on various topics related to archeology studies. The board of directors and the regional or national representatives of the DASV are also elected at the general assembly. In addition, a regional or state association meeting takes place once a semester. At these meetings, current topics and problems with regard to university policy, Bachelor and Master regulations, course of studies in the individual regional / state associations and topics for the IFaTa are discussed.

Projects

The association and the individual regional or state associations regularly organize events that are aimed as a service offer for archeology students in the association area. The organization is taken over by volunteer students and coordinated by the association.
