The Dagangshan Dam ( Chinese:大 崗 山 大壩 / 大 岗 山 大坝Pinyin Dàgǎngshān Dàbà) is an arch dam that is currently under construction on Dadu He near the town of Dagangshan in the Sichuan Province of the People's Republic of China . The Dagangshan hydropower plant ( Chinese:大 崗 山 水電站 / 大 岗 山 水电站 Pinyin Dàgǎngshān Shuǐdiànzhàn), which has four generators with 650 MW each, a total of 2600 MW, is also being built at the dam . The construction of the dam began in 2008 and the power plant in 2010. The first generator should go on line in 2015 [obsolete] and the whole project should be completed in 2016 [obsolete] . 11.43 billion kilowatt hours of electricity are to be generated annually .
The Francis-type turbines are supplied by Voith .
