The Shuangjiangkou Dam, also written as Shuang Jiang Kou, is a dam under construction on Dadu He with a rock embankment dam as a barrier in the Sichuan Province of the People's Republic of China . Preparatory construction work began in 2008. By April 2011, over 200 million m³ of material had been excavated from the construction pit. The entire construction period should take 10 years.

Building

The shut-off , when it is completed, a 312 m (at the maximum of 314 m on the foundation bed ) high and 648.66 m long rockfill dam with a relatively impermeable core to be. The width of the dam crest is 16 m, its height 2510 m above sea level. The dam will have a construction volume of 44 million m³. The catchment area is 39,330 km² and the usable space is 3135 million m³, of which 2151 million m³ are controllable usable space . The normal water level will fluctuate between 2500 m and 2420 m. At high tide it can rise to 2504 m. The completed hydropower plant will have four 500 MW Francis turbines and electrical generators for a total installed capacity of 2000 MW. The guaranteed minimum output should be 503 MW. With 4064 hours of running time per year, 8128  GWh can be generated. The power plant is designed for a flow rate of 1090 m³ / s and the mean hydraulic head is 226.4 m.
