Dagny Carlsson (born May 8, 1912 in Kristianstad , Sweden , as Dagny Valborg Eriksson ) is a Swedish blogger, known as the oldest blogger in the world.

Life

When she was 17, her father died, and her mother was left with her and three younger siblings. She put off her desire to become a teacher and took up a job as a seamstress in a factory. She later completed an apprenticeship at a textile institute in Norrköping .

At the age of 99, Carlsson first took a computer course. In 2012, at the age of 100, she opened her blog, Blogga Med Mig! (Blog with me!) By signing her posts with “Bojan”. She also teaches other seniors how to use the computer.

In 2015, Åsa Blanck's documentary Livet börjar vid 100 (Life begins at 100) about Dagny Carlsson was released on Swedish TV ( SVT ) . Her main role in this film made her blog popular, and interviews with and reports about Carlsson have appeared in numerous newspapers, television programs and websites. She got a supporting role in the film The Hundred and One Year Old Who Didn't Pay the Bill and Disappeared , which was released in 2016 in Scandinavia. In 2016, Carlsson published her autobiography with Helen Bjurberg .

When asked about her recipe for a long life, she replied: “good genes and curiosity ”.

Before Carlsson, other people were known as (then) the "world's oldest blogger":

  • Olive Riley, Australian, born October 20, 1899, whose life story was portrayed in a documentary by Mike Rubbo, wrote on her blog through June 26, 2008.
  • María Amelia López, born in Muxia, Spain, in 1911, wrote her first blog entry on her 95th birthday when her grandson “gave her a weblog”. López lived in Muxia until 2009.

Prices

In 2013 she won the title Veckans svensk (Swede of the Week) in the TV show of the same name directed by Pär Lernström. In 2015 the newspaper Seniors named her årets senior (Senior of the Year). In 2019 she became årets guldambassadör ( Gold Ambassador of the Year) in Kristianstad.
