The Dahlak Marine National Park ( Dahlak Marine National Park , spelling variant: Dahlac) is one of the two national parks of Eritrea in the Semienawi Kayih Bahri region (region of the northern Red Sea). It is located in the area of the Dahlak Archipelago .
The national park shows an unusual wealth of species and individuals, because it was proclaimed at the time of the Ethiopian rule during the Eritrea-Ethiopia war and has hardly been touched by humans since then. It is estimated that around 325 species of fish live in the waters and there are dugongs , sea turtles and a rich bird life. Most of the small islands are uninhabited, on four larger islands there are settlements of local people with a total of 2500 inhabitants.
The national park can be visited from Massaua, including diving .
