Dai Jin (born February 4, 2000 ) is an English thoroughbred horse . The stallion was bred out of Dawlah by Peintre Célèbre at the Schlenderhan stud .

The Schlenderhan stud bought the mare Dawlah, daughter of the English derby winner Shirley Heights, for € 250,000 and hired Peintre Célèbre, winner of the French derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 1997, as a breeding stallion for € 35,000. So they were all the more disappointed with him Foals with "fish eyes" and uneven front legs. The foal was officially named after a painter from the Ming dynasty . By confusing Dai Jin with Zai Jian , in English goodbye , the owner of the Schlenderhan Stud at the time, Karin Baroness von Ullmann , also wanted to express that she wanted to get rid of the unloved horse as quickly as possible. This was achieved on September 2, 2001 by means of a BBAG auction in Iffezheim . At least 95,000 DM were achieved there because the new owner, celebrity manager Werner Heinz, bought the horse unseen. The mare Dawlah was also sold for € 30,000.

As a two-year-old, Dai Jin won the Dortmund auction race. His victory in the traditional Union race made him one of the favorites for the German Derby . If he was in second place on the totalizator, he clearly won the race. Dai Jin was a good stalker with a very strong finish. His trainer Andreas Schütz said of him: "I've never seen a horse that is as fast as Dai Jin in the last 400 meters." He often sprinted from last place forward on the home straight. He achieved this particularly spectacularly at the Rhineland Cup (Group I) in Cologne. After this success, his owner was offered € 6 million for the stallion.

Werner Heinz declined this offer and wanted to reach for the stars with Dai Jin at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe . Due to a severe tendon injury, however, his final sprint did not take place and he only finished 7th out of 14 participants, which ended Dai Jin's racing career prematurely.

Then he was set up as a stallion at the Zoppenbroich stud. Although he has only been able to cover a relatively small number of mares so far due to the high stud fee of € 7,500, he can already boast considerable success as a sire. From his first crop of multiple group winners are Liang Kay and the list winner princess emerged, his second year come from the group winners Norderney and Caro Jina and in his third year, has a two-year full sister of Norderney, Nocturna , already a promising candidate for the Preis der Diana Recommended in 2010.
