Daisy Jacobs

Daisy Jacobs (* 1989 ) is a British animator , director and screenwriter who was nominated at the 2015 Academy Awards, along with producer Christopher Hees, for an Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category for The Bigger Picture . Together with Hees and her co-writer Jennifer Majka , she won a British Academy Film Award in 2015 for this film .

Jacobs grew up in Gosport ( Hampshire on), visited the Bay House School and studied Illustration and Animation at Central Saint Martins in London and animation director at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield . During her training, she made the animated short films Don Justino de Neve (2011) and Tosh (2012). The Bigger Picture is about two brothers who take care of their aging mother and, according to Jacobs, is based on their own family life with their grandmother, who has Parkinson's disease.

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
