Dalatåg AB was a Swedish railway company . The company was based in Furudal . It existed between 1991 and 1996.

history

Hedlunds Trävaru AB in Furudal was informed in 1991 about the risk of losing its rail freight traffic due to the closure of the Furudal – Mora railway line . Since several private railway companies had taken over the freight traffic on different routes in southern Sweden at that time, Hedlund wanted to try a solution in this direction.

Therefore, the woodworks participated as a partner in Dalatåg AB , which was founded in autumn 1991 and started freight traffic on the route between Mora and Furudal, part of the Orsa – Bollnäs railway on November 4, 1991. From January 7, 1992, the route to be served was extended to Orsa . For this purpose, the Z67 641 was taken over by Statens Järnvägar for traffic processing at the beginning of 1992 , which further increased traffic.

From 1993 all traffic was carried out with the rented IBAB T44 281 from Inlandsbanan AB and from June 1994 also on the Mora – Östersund route wagonload traffic .

Nevertheless, the company had a difficult economic situation, it was one of the pioneers in the privatization of rail traffic. In 1996 Dalatåg AB had to file for bankruptcy. The company's own locomotive Z67 641 was sold to Tågåkeriet i Bergslagen AB (Tågab).

The transport services were taken over by BK Tåg AB. This company in turn went bankrupt in 2005.
