description

The villa was built in 1832. The important Scottish architect William Henry Playfair was responsible for the design . Playfair chose a design in the historicizing Italianate style . His original plans for Dalcrue House are now owned by the University of Edinburgh .

Dalcrue House is largely isolated around two kilometers northeast of Methven or northwest of Almondbank . About 50 meters to the north is the right bank of the Tay . The masonry of the two-story villa consists of quarry stone with natural stone details . The windows are not set back in recesses, but are set in alignment with the facade. As is typical of the Italianate style, the asymmetrically constructed building has a tower. The final roofs have only a slight slope.
