The Rathenaubrücke is a road bridge in the Hamburg district of Alsterdorf , which crosses the Skagerrak Canal near the Alster .

A bridge built at this location in 1914 was called the West Skagerrak Bridge for a few years until it was named after the industrialist, writer and politician Walther Rathenau on August 2, 1958 .

The Skagerrak Bridge opposite was originally built in the 1910s under the Hamburg construction director Fritz Schumacher and renewed around 1985.
