Dale Samuel Schacker (born June 7, 1952 ) is an American composer who is best known for his compositions in the cartoon series Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs .

Life

At the age of nine, Dale Schacker faced the choice of learning to play a musical instrument. He wanted to play the drums himself , but his father gave him the choice of either trumpet or clarinet , so Schacker chose the former. Music became a passion for him, so that he not only began to learn the piano by himself at the age of 14 when his family bought one, but also played and sang in various school and rock bands. However, he didn't think he could ever make a living from music, so he decided to study architecture after graduating from high school .

But he met the documentary filmmaker Michael Harris in Florida , who hired him as a composer for his new documentary Search for the Titanic and then invited him to California , where he met the film editor Franklin Cofod , who made it easier for him to get to grips with animated films and made him a composer for The Adventures of the Little Prince . His work meant that he then moved to California to become a self-employed film composer. After initial teething problems, he was hired as a composer after he had sent a demo recording to Boyd Curton by Hanna-Barbara and was allowed to compose for several cartoon series such as Pac-Man and Scooby-Doo . After composing for cartoons such as Voltron - Defender of the Universe , Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs , Widget - The Little Guardian and, most recently, Voltron: The Third Dimension in 1998 , Schacker now writes in country music .

Dale Schacker is married to elementary school teacher Alicia Schacker and now lives in Glendale , California.
