The dam of Schulpforte is a listed dam in the area of the Schulpforte district of the city of Naumburg in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is listed as a monument under registration number 094 30645 .

General

The Schulpforte dam is actually two dams that have been under monument protection since 2017. Both dams were built by the monks of the former Cistercian monastery Kloster Pforte .

The dam near Bad Kösen was used for flood protection and was first mentioned in a document in 1302 in the permit from Naumburg Bishop Bruno von Langenbogen to fortify the bank. Today the dam has a height of 1.20 m and is only the core of the original dam, as it was renewed in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

The dam on the southwestern outskirts of Almrich, the so-called Altenburger Wall , was a medieval element of the monastery's pond management. It was mentioned in a document in 1551 and at that time it represented the border between the Klosterland and Almrich. Today it has been preserved as a wide grass wall, only the ponds have disappeared. The village of Almrich used to be called Altenburg and the name of the dam was derived from this.

location

The dams are located in the Saale meadow between Bad Kösen and Almrich , with the Altenburger Wall in the Almrich district and the other dam in the Bad Kösen district.
