Daniel Barrow

Daniel Hubert Barrow (born July 22, 1909 in Yeadon , Pennsylvania , † November 4, 1993 in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania) was a rower from the United States.

Barrow began rowing in high school and later joined the Penn Athletic Club . In 1930 the eighth of Penn AC competed at the European Championships in Liège and won the title.

In 1934 and 1935 Barrow won the US championships in double sculls . His only title in the one he won in 1936. With this title, he qualified for participation in the Olympic Games in Berlin . There Barrow took fifth place in his preliminary run, won his intermediate run and finished second in the semifinals behind the German Gustav Schäfer . In the final, Schäfer won with a four second lead over the Austrian Josef Hasenöhrl , Barrow reached the finish line two seconds behind Hasenöhrl and received the bronze medal.
