Daniel Cargnin

Daniel Cargnin (born December 20, 1997 ) is a Brazilian judoka . In 2019 he was runner-up in the Pan American Games.

Athletic career

Daniel Cargnin has been fighting in the half-light weight category , the weight class up to 66 kilograms , since 2015 . In 2015 he won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships. In 2017 he reached the final of the Pan-American championships and lost to the Cuban Osniel Solis . Two months later, Cargnin won the Pan-American U21 championships. In October 2017 he won the title at the Junior World Championships in Zagreb. In 2018, as in the previous year, he won the silver medal behind Osniel Solis at the Pan-American Championships. At the 2018 World Championships in Baku, he lost in the quarter-finals to the Israeli Tal Flicker . After a victory against the Mongols Kherlen Ganbold , Cargnin lost the battle for bronze against the South Korean An Ba-ul .

In April 2019, Cargnin won the title at the Pan American Championships. In the final of the Pan American Games 2019 in Lima, he lost to Wander Mateo from the Dominican Republic. In October 2019 Cargnin won the Grand Slam in Brasília with a final victory over the Italian Manuel Lombardo .
