Daniel Etter (photojournalist)

Daniel Etter (* 1980 in Solingen ) is a German photojournalist and author . He works primarily in conflict areas for publications by Stern , Spiegel and the New York Times .

Life

Etter grew up in the Solingen district of Widdert and graduated from high school August-Dicke-Schule . He then studied political science and was trained at the German School of Journalism in Munich.

Awards

In 2013 Etter received the Axel Springer Prize for young journalists in the supraregional / national articles category. In 2016, together with Tyler Hicks , Sergei Ponomarew and Mauricio Lima, he received the Pulitzer Prize for Current Photo Reporting and the John Faber Award from the Overseas Press Club of America . In 2017 he received the third prize in the Contemporary Issues category of the World Press Photo Awards and the Hansel Mieth Prize .
