Nettlingen Castle

Castle Nettlingen is in Nettlingen in Hildesheim in Lower Saxony located castle , which in 1570 by Kurt von Saldern was built.

As a former Renaissance building, the castle is a rectangular wing structure with a plastered facade and slate roof. A stair tower with a Renaissance portal stands in the middle between the wings of the building . In the west wing there is a large hall, which is now divided.

history

The brewers' guild in Hildesheim started negotiations in 1605 about the sale of the building, which was expensive to maintain, which were concluded in 1611. In the following year, however, the brewer's guild ceded the castle to Landdrost Arend von Wobersnow for 28,000 Reichstaler . He was in the service of Duke Friedrich Ulrich of Brunswick.

On the return trip from Paris to Moscow in 1717, Tsar Peter stayed overnight with his wife in Nettlinger Castle. Napoleon is also said to have rested in the castle during his campaigns of conquest.

The palace was bought in 1803 by the Hildesheim district president Theodor Josef von Wrede and bequeathed it to his nephews Carl and Caspar von Wrede zu Amecke. In 1909 the estate was sold by the Barons von Wrede to the Barons von Cramm , who sold it on before the Second World War . In 1909 the tennis player Gottfried von Cramm was born here.

Today there are rental apartments in the castle.
