Live and act

Portrait of Andrzej Trzebicki, 1664

Daniel Frecher was mentioned in 1621 as a member of the painters' guild in Krakow. The father's name was Daniel, the mother Dorothea. Further details about his person have not been passed down.

The portrait of Bishop Andrzej Trzebicki of Cracow from 1664 bears the inscription Daniel F [..] er and has always been assigned to Daniel Frecher. However, since no other works by him are known and this portrait is counted among the most important baroque paintings in Poland, his authorship is uncertain. The style is influenced by Dutch painters such as Antoon van Dyck and Jacob Mertens .

A portrait of King Casimir III in the Church of St. Casimir in Krakow, which was later also ascribed to him, is probably by another painter ( Daniel Schultz ?).
