Daniel Natea

Daniel Natea (born April 21, 1992 in Sibiu ) is a Romanian judoka and samboka . He was third at the European Championships in judo in 2016 and European champion in sambo in 2019.

Judo career

The 2.03 m tall Daniel Natea fights in the heavyweight division, the weight class over 100 kilograms. In 2010 he was fifth in the U20 World Championships. In 2013 he won the Balkan Championships and was third in the U23 European Championships. In 2014 he won the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi and was again third in the U23 European Championships. In 2015 he won the Romanian championship titles in heavyweight and in the open class, and he did the same in 2016 and 2017. At the 2016 European Championships in Kazan, he was defeated in the semifinals by Israeli Or Sasson , with a victory over Ukrainian Oleksandr Hordiienko , Natea won a bronze medal. At the 2016 Olympicsin Rio de Janeiro Natea lost in the second round to the Uzbek Abdullo Tangriyev . In October 2016, Natea won the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam for the second time.

Sambo career

In May 2019 Natea won the European Sambo Championships in Gijon. He was then banned from judo competitions by the IJF until May 2021.
