Daniel Olesker (* 1952 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan politician .

Daniel Olesker graduated from the Universidad de la República (UdelaR) as an economist and then completed this with a master's degree in economics from the University of Leuven in Belgium . He is a professor ("profesor grado 5") at the Economics Faculty of the UdelaR.

Olesker was Minister of Health in the José Mujica government since March 1, 2010 . In this position he was replaced on July 19, 2011 by State Secretary Jorge Enrique Venegas . That day, Olesker took over the management of the Ministry of Social Development.
