Daniel Matthias Schäffner (born September 10, 1981 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . Daniel Schäffner lives in Mackenbach.

After graduating from high school in Kaiserslautern in 2001 and subsequent community service, Schäffner completed a degree at the Mannheim Cooperative State University, which he graduated in 2005 with a degree in business administration (BA). From October 2005 to March 2006 Schäffner was employed by the city of Kaiserslautern and from April 2006 to February 2014 in the finance department of the Kaiserslautern district administration.

Daniel Schäffner has been a member of the SPD since 1998. He is chairman of the SPD community association in Weilerbach. Since 2017 he has been chairman of the SPD subdistrict Kaiserslautern and the SPD local association Mackenbach.

From 2009 to 2019 he was a member of the Mackenbach local council, and in 2014 he was elected alderman in his home parish. He has also been a member of the Weilerbach municipal council and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there since 2014 . Schäffner has also been a member of the district council of the Kaiserslautern district since 2014. Since 2019 he has been the local mayor of Mackenbach.

Since February 18, 2014, Schäffner has been a member of the 16th state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate as the successor to Margit Mohr . He represents constituency 45 there (Kaiserslautern-Land). Daniel Schäffner is a member of the following committees: Deputy Chairman of the Media, Digital Infrastructure and Network Policy Committee, Economy and Transport Committee. Schäffner is also a member of the data protection commission and the LDI advisory board. Since May 2016, Schäffner has also been the media policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group. In 2014 he was also appointed to the assembly of the State Center for Media and Communication (LMK).
