Danielle Nicole (born Danielle Nicole Schnebelen in 1983 or 1984 in Kansas City ) is an American blues bassist and singer who is successful both as a member of the band Trampled Under Foot , which she co-founded, and as a solo artist. She has won multiple Blues Music Awards and Independent Blues Awards and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards .

Musical career

Danielle Nicole played in her parents' band, Little Eva and the Works, as a teenager. She founded the blues rock band Trampled Under Foot together with her brothers Kris and Nick Schnebelen , where she was active as a bassist and singer. They released several albums between 2000 and 2015. With their album Badlands , the band won an award at the Blues Music Awards 2014 in the category “Contemporary Blues Album of the Year” and Danielle Schnebelen was awarded in the category “Best Instrumentalist - Bass”. In addition, the band was nominated as "Band of the Year".

After an EP in spring 2015 with the title Danielle Nicole , she released her first solo album with the title Wolf Den on Concord Records in September 2015 . The album was produced by Anders Osborne and Ryan Kingsbury and reached number 2 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart in October of that year.

In 2019 the album Cry No More followed , which was nominated in December 2018 for the Grammy Awards 2019 in the category " Best Contemporary Blues Album ". At the Blues Music Awards she received two awards for the album as "Contemporary Blues Female Artist" and "Bass Instrumentalist", and she also won three Independent Blues Awards for the best R&B Soul CD, the music video for the title song Cry No More and for the R&B -Soul song Prince's How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore? .
