Daniel "Danny" Kerr (* 1915 in Hamilton ; † unknown) was a Scottish football player .

Career

Kerr came in late November 1934 from Scottish junior football from the Carluke Rangers in north-west England to the second division Manchester United . There the half-forward came in the following months to missions for the reserve team in the Central League , in March 1935 he was released from his contract at his own request. A short time later he joined the club Torquay United , which played in the Third Division South , where he was described by the press as "clearly slow" at an early stage and was also used exclusively in the reserve team until the end of the season.

In early July 1935, Kerr was successfully reamateurised with the Scottish Junior Football Association , which the association only allowed 15 of 109 applicants. Just a few weeks later, however, Kerr was again under contract with an English professional club, with Accrington Stanley the attacker was signed by a club from the Third Division North . At Accrington, the former international Jack Hacking had taken over the post of player-coach for the 1935/36 season, Kerr had played together with Hacking in Manchester's reserve team in the preseason. For Accrington Kerr came on the occasion of a 2-4 home defeat against Rochdale AFC to his debut in the Football League , in the remainder of the season only followed another competitive appearance in a goalless draw in May 1936 against Carlisle United , he played the rest of the season on the reserve team in the Lancashire Combination . About Kerr, Jackman & Dykes note that he lacked "the consistency and assertiveness that he could have combined with his smooth dribbling skills."

Kerr left Accrington in the season break in 1936 or 1937. In August 1937 he denied a one-month trial with Erstdivisionär FC Birmingham , press side it was certified following a club-house test match, "for his game deserves attention" to have, but a lasting commitment apparently came does not materialize.
