Peter Vogler

Peter Vogler (* 28. November 1941 , † 8. September 2017 in Adendorf ) was a German lieutenant general of the Air Force of the Armed Forces .

Life

Vogler joined the German Army in 1961 as an officer candidate in the Air Force. He was educated in the United States for Starfighter - pilots with subsequent training in European airspace at the Training School of the Air Force 10 in Jever . After completing his training, he was transferred to Jagdgeschwader 71 , stationed at Wittmundhafen Air Base . He later served as a flight instructor and lecturer in aerial warfare theory.

As a colonel , he was first chief of staff of the 3rd Air Force Division in Kalkar from April 1982 to March 1984 , then from March 30, 1984 to September 26, 1986 commodore of Jagdgeschwader 72 “Westphalia” in Hopsten . Later, with the rank of brigadier general , he served as a department head in the command staff of the Air Force in Bonn. From April 1, 1993 to March 31, 1996 he was major general in command of the 1st Air Force Division, which was stationed in Messstetten until 1994 and then in Karlsruhe . He then made his way to Ramstein , where he became deputy commander of the HQ Allied Air Forces Central Europe (AIRCENT) . In December 1999 he finally took over as commander of the air force command in the air force barracks in Cologne-Wahn . On April 1, 2002, he handed over the command to Dirk Böcker and retired.

Vogler was married and was the recipient of the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in Gold and the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon . From October 6, 2006 to October 10, 2014, he was Chairman of the Association of Aviators of the German Armed Forces .
