Staff Department (Federal Ministry of Defense)
A staff department was the designation of the departments of the management staff in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Germany until 2012 . They were led by a staff department head . The heads of the other staff departments of the Bundeswehr were and are technically speaking, however, as department heads or briefly according to their department z. B. S 3 referred to.
The five management staff in the Federal Ministry of Defense were:
- Command staff of the armed forces (Fü S; formerly command staff of the Bundeswehr Fü B)
- Army Command Staff (Fü H)
- Air Force Command Staff (Fü L)
- Command of the Navy (Fü M)
- Management staff of the medical service (Fü San)
The military staff department corresponded to a civilian subdivision in the ministry (called a division group or group below the ministerial level). It was usually led by a brigadier general , flotilla admiral , doctor general or admiral doctor with the exception of Staff Division III in the command staff of the armed forces, which was headed by a major general or rear admiral . The staff departments were in talks organized.
The management staff were the working staffs of the inspector general of the Bundeswehr (Fü S) or the inspectors of the armed forces (Fü H, Fü L, Fü M) and the medical service (Fü San).
The headquarters of the armed forces had seven staff departments:
- Staff department I: internal management, personnel, training
- Staff Division II: Military Intelligence of the Bundeswehr
- Staff Division III: Military Policy and Arms Control
- Staff department IV: logistics of the Bundeswehr, NBC defense and protective tasks
- Staff Department V: Use of the Bundeswehr
- Staff Division VI: Planning
- Staff department VII: Organization, stationing, infrastructure, command support
The command staffs of the armed forces each had three staff departments:
- Staff Department I: Human Resources, Training, Organization
- Staff Department II: Armaments, Use, Material, Logistics
- Staff department III: leadership, conception, operational principles
The management staff of the medical service had two staff departments:
- Staff Division I: Healthcare
- Staff Department II: Medical Services
