Daouda Mamadou Marthé (* 23. November 1959 in Diffa ; spelling of the surname and Marte ) is a Nigerien politician .

Life

Daouda Marthé worked as a teacher. At the founding assembly of the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS-Tarayya) in December 1990 he was appointed deputy treasurer of the party. He later took on other functions, for example he emerged from the party congresses in 2004 and 2009 as the seventh deputy general secretary. In the party leadership he was responsible for the Diffa region, where he expanded the presence of the PNDS-Tarayya, for example by creating new district offices.

Marthé was elected in the parliamentary elections on January 31, 2011 in the constituency of Diffa as PNDS Tarayya MP in the National Assembly. He assumed the post of first vice-president of the National Assembly and became a member of the Parliamentary Commission on General and Institutional Affairs. In the PNDS-Tarayya he rose to the sixth deputy general secretary at the 2013 party congress. When the office of Speaker of Parliament was declared vacant in 2014 following the departure of Hama Amadou , Daouda Marthé took on his functions on an interim basis for four months until the election of the new Speaker of Parliament Amadou Salifou .

Initially re-elected to the National Assembly in the parliamentary elections on February 21, 2016 , President Mahamadou Issoufou (PNDS-Tarayya) brought Marthé into the government on April 14, 2016 as Minister for Primary Education, Literacy , the Promotion of National Languages and Political Education . In the face of unpaid teachers' salaries and other shortcomings in the education system, the minister was confronted with demands for union resignation in the summer of the same year. President Issoufou confirmed Marthé in his office in the government on October 19, 2016.
