Parliamentary elections in Niger 2016

The parliamentary elections in Niger in 2016 took place on February 21, 2016. The 171 members of the National Assembly of Niger were elected .

The regular elections took place with the end of the five-year legislative period of the National Assembly since the parliamentary elections in 2011 . On the same day the first ballot which took place presidential elections in Niger 2016 .

Compared to the previous parliamentary elections in 2011, the number of seats in the National Assembly has increased from 113 to 171. This was justified with a relation to the meanwhile strong population growth in Niger and was based on the key that one MP should come to around 100,000 inhabitants. The distribution according to constituencies was determined as follows: for the capital Niamey ten seats, for the Agadez region six seats, for the Diffa region seven seats, for the Dosso region 19 seats, for the Maradi region 31 seats, for the Tahoua region 30 seats , 23 seats for the Tillabéri region and 23 seats for the Zinder region32 seats as well as one seat each for the special constituencies of the Bilma Department , the Bermo Department , the Banibangou Department , the N'Gourti Department, the Tassara Department, the Tesker Department and the Makalondi Department, plus five seats for foreign nationals.

Results

According to the Niger Constitution, the Constitutional Court is responsible for the publication of the results of the parliamentary elections. The final election results are as follows:
