The Patriotic Movement for the Republic ( French : Mouvement Patriotique pour la République , abbreviation: MPR-Jamhuriya ) is a political party in Niger .

history

The Patriotic Movement for Republic was founded on October 11, 2015 under the leadership of Albadé Abouba as a split from the National Movement of Development Society (MNSD-Nassara). Abouba had been Secretary General of the MNSD-Nassara. He and his followers had left the opposition role against the will of MNSD Nassara chairman Seini Oumarou and worked with President Mahamadou Issoufou of the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS Tarayya). General Secretary of the Patriotic Movement for Republic was Sani Maïgochi . Amadou Salifou took over the chairmanship of the party section in the capital Niamey .

In the 2016 general election , the Patriotic Movement for Republic won 13 out of 171 seats in the National Assembly . In the 2016 presidential election , she supported the victorious incumbent Mahamadou Issoufou (PNDS-Tarayya). Albadé Abouda received the post of Minister of State for Agriculture and Livestock in Issoufou's government. Later on, Alma Oumarou , the chairman of the MPR Jamhuriya section of Zinder , became an advisor to the President at ministerial level.

At the beginning of 2020, several important party functionaries left the MPR-Jamhuriya in conflict with Chairman Albadé Abouba, such as the Zinder section around Alma Oumarou and the Niamey section around Amadou Salifou, who was involved with the Citizens' Alliance for the Republic (RCPR-As-Salam ) founded a new party. The party secretary for communications Issaka Siradji and the local branch of Tanout , which he led , switched from MPR-Jamhuriya to PNDS-Tarayya.
