history

The MODEN-FA Lumana Africa was created on May 12, 2009 under Hama Amadou as a split from the then ruling party MNSD-Nassara . This was preceded by an internal party conflict between former Prime Minister Hama Amadou, who had been MNSD Nassara chairman since 2001, and President Mamadou Tandja , who was MNSD Nassara chairman until 1999. Hama Amadou has been its chairman since MODEN-FA Lumana Africa was founded. The parliamentary elections of 2009 were boycotted by MODEN-FA Lumana Africa as by most of the major opposition parties. Mamadou Tandja was overthrown in a coup in February 2010. In the subsequent presidential election in 2011 , Hama Amadou came third in the first round and supported the victorious candidate Mahamadou Issoufou ( PNDS-Tarayya ) against the runner-up Seini Oumarou (MNSD-Nassara) in the runoff election . In the parliamentary elections of 2011 , which took place at the same time , the MODEN-FA Lumana Africa stole almost half of its previous electorate from the MNSD-Nassara. The MODEN-FA Lumana Africa became the third strongest party with 19.72 percent of the vote and has since been represented with 25 of 113 seats in the National Assembly. Hama Amadou was elected President of the National Assembly in 2011. He lost this office in 2014. Since 2011, the party has provided Oumarou Moumouni Dogari as the mayor of the capital Niamey . In the 2016 general election , the party won 25 out of 171 seats in the National Assembly.
